U guys know i do my best to try and find out things that are "happening" in egypt , and apparently from what i've heard this group is "HAPPENING" , im not a member cause i yet have to finish my exams in january , but u can bet that i will be once im done with my last exam.! GOD WILLING..:)

The Cairo Camera Club(CCC) is a group of amateur and professional photographers with no intentions of profit that has the aim of providing a setting for people with an interest in photography to grow in their skills.It has been the brain child of Wally Nell,Greig Kidman,Dave Talbot,Norm Tucker and Emile Ibrahim for a while now,and finally,here we are...CCC plans to draw on well-known and well-skilled people in the arts to teach workshops and present talks on various subjects.CCC will be a club with an annual membership fee payable every 6 months.In order to participate in the activities,one will need to be a paid-up member.The membership fee is solely to pay for the venue costs,club costs and for prizes.No profit will be made from it.Fee for Egyptian students: 50 L.E, Working Egyptians: 90 L.E, Non-Egyptians: 150 L.E . We plan to have monthly meetings(first Thursday of every month),where we will have workshops,presentations and competitions.We plan to partner with 3 other camera clubs,one in Australia,one in America and one in South Africa.We welcome everyone to be part of this.The young and the old,the professional and the amateur,the experienced and the beginners.There will be something there for everyone....

CLUB RULES


1. Purpose of club:The purpose of the Cairo Camera Club is to facilitate a place where people with a likeminded interest in photography may grow in their skill, by means of competition, critiques at competitions, topical workshops, inspiration by the work of others and personal friendships.

2. Membership dues and restrictions:The membership cycle will be for a 6 month period, January to June, and July to December, and are due at the first meeting of the period, i.e. the first meeting in January and the first meeting in July. Only paid-up members may take part in the competitions. When signing up, a member will be assigned a member number which needs to be used whenever a member submits images for competition. An entrance fee of LE10 will be charged for all guests. Until further review the following are the dues per 6 month period:Egyptian students – LE50, Egyptians - LE90, Foreigners - LE150. It needs to be noted that the membership dues are not for the sake of profit making, but to simply cover the costs of running the club. If membership numbers increase enough, it will be a consideration to reduce the membership dues.

3. Scoring of images:Image will be scored in the following way: 1/3rd of the score on technical merit, 1/3rd on impact, and 1/3rd on its communication or story telling value. 2 points per image submitted3 points for gold2 points for silver1 point for bronze0 points for no award3 points for image of the evening2 points for most innovative

4. Monthly competition:Only fully paid-up members will be allowed to take part in the monthly competitions. A maximum of 3 images need to be submitted on a single CD at the meeting a month before the competition. The member’s membership number needs to appear on the outside of the CD. If a member is not able to submit in time for the competition, he/she will not be allowed to makeup images in subsequent competitions.

5. Photographer of the Year:The Photographer of the Year will be the total score as at the last meeting of the year, i.e. December. It will be the cumulative score that images have been awarded at every competition meeting. Prizes will be awarded depending on club finances.6. Image of the eveningThe Image of the evening will be awarded by the judge of the evening as the image that stood out the most from the evening. It will be chosen from the images that attained a gold award in the evening.7. Most innovative image of the eveningThe most innovative image of the evening will be awarded by the judge of the evening as the image that showed the most vision and innovativeness. It does not need to be only from the images that attained gold awards. The motive for this award is to encourage individual vision and non-conformity in photography.8. Workshops, presentations and outingsThe club endeavors to hold regular short workshops on topics, presentations by people recognized in the arts, and regular outings to promote practical tutoring, and foster an environment of mentoring and friendships.
